Duo Steals Personal Belongings From Parked BMW At Residence In Westchester

Authorities in Westchester are warning residents to lock their cars after two suspects were able to get into a parked vehicle and steal personal items.

The theft happened at a residence in Rye on Sunday, May 5 around 2 a.m., when two unknown people entered an unlocked BMW and stole personal belongings, according to the City of Rye Police. 

A video of the theft captured by a surveillance camera was later posted by the department on social media, where police urged residents to take precautions to avoid being victimized.

"We want to remind our residents to please take their keys/fob with them, lock their car doors, and secure their valuables," the department wrote. 

According to Rye Police, a total of 99 vehicles have been stolen from Rye since 2020, and all of them had their key left inside. 

The two suspects involved in Sunday's incident have not been arrested, police said. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
